ARTIST'S STATEMENT -
"In 2007, I accepted my daughter's challenge to have a go at botanical drawing and painting. I love to draw, and have always had a keen interest in flowers, but was not familiar with watercolours, so it has been an interesting adventure learning to work with this medium. So much to learn, and so many wonderful plants to explore."
A resident of the Hills since 1960, Elaine studied art in her youth at the East Sydney Technical College, Darlinghurst. She left art school, then married and raised a very busy family of four children. It was not until her children were at highschool that Elaine took up porcelain painting, and during the 1970's she became a well-known and successful porcelain painter in the Hills district.
Now an emerging watercolour artist, Elaine's love of form, colour, and the natural environment is clearly seen in her masterful botanical drawings and paintings.
